Yesterday was sports day at many elementary schools, including my old school in Nagano which now two of my younger siblings go to. Since I had a private lesson at night, I gave up going to see my siblings' sports day. Instead, I decided to go and see ones of my little juku kids in Gunma.

Busy busy!
My summer is almost over...
I have been having a busy summer as usual. I don't know why my summer is always busy. I guess it's just summer that is busy.
Blog topic line-up: Eleven-day-trip to the United States
From August 2 to 12, I visited the West Coast with (part of) my family (for those who know me well, you probably understand how hard it would be for the entire family to travel abroad).
The trip started from San Francisco, and we traveled up and down, but slightly going toward North to the final location, Seattle.
It was just a trip this time, but my geeky brain about languages was active all the way from the beginning to the end.
In a week (I hope) I will be posting some of the experiences and funny things I encountered during the trip.
I shall stop here for now though, as I actually have something else to write...

公園と、ゴミと、私の気持ち （再掲）
去る７月１８日、海の日。
海には行けなかったのですが、河原の親水公園で運動をしようと思って出かけました。
利根川沿いの美しい公園で、故郷での子供時代を思い出させてくれる、お気に入りの場所です。
しばらくサイクリングロードを歩き、坂道を下って公園入り口に着いたとき、私たちの前に広がったのは
ゴミが一面に散らばった公園の無残な姿でした。

「ぢゃ」「ぢゅ」「ぢょ」の行く末は……？ （再掲）
先日、ある教材を見ていたら、ひらがなの書き取り練習のところに、
「ぢゃ」「ぢゅ」「ぢょ」
を練習する欄がありました。
しばらく眺めていて、思ったのです。
「現代日本語に、ぢゃ・ぢゅ・ぢょを使ったことばなんてあったっけ？」
基本的に、現代日本語の所謂「標準語」では、「じ」と「ぢ」の発音の区別はありません。
昔は区別があったのですが、そして区別があったからこそ異なる文字を当てたわけですが、江戸時代の頃から徐々に失われていったようです。
一応ネイティブの私でも、表記に「ぢ」を用いる単語でさえ多くは思い浮かびませんから、もしかしたら「ぢゃ」「ぢゅ」「ぢょ」の表記はもうすでに消えてしまっているのでは？と思い、少し考えたり調べたりしてみることにしました。

毎日まいにち暑いですね。
私は雪国の生まれで、湿気のある冬は寒いけれど好き。
でも、湿気のある夏の暑さには耐えられません。
ああ、どうして私は、日本一暑いところに来てしまったのだろう……。
ところで、私の通っている大学院では、7月13日で春学期が終業となりました。
電力不足と県庁からの節電の要請で例年より3週間ほど早い終業です。
しかし私はほとんど趣味で、学部の授業も履修しているのですよ。
学部では一週間の予備期間を設けているので、来週水曜日のテストが終わると、夏休みに入ります。
小学校や中学校の夏休みでさえ、こんなに早く始まった記憶はありません。
なんだか、複雑な気持ちです。
夏休みと言っても、今年度は後半に修士論文の執筆という恐ろしいイベントが待っているので、あまりゆっくりしている場合ではありません。
この暑さに脳がやられないか心配ですが（脳貧血の常習犯なので）、研究も私生活も充実した休みになればと思います。
今回は、最近学んだ面白いことを箇条書きで書きます。

Disconnected from facebook
I have had this blog disconnected from facebook, mainly because I didn't like the system twitterfeed uses. I need to find the other one that nicely connects the two pages. So far right now, though, I will keep the two disconnected as I have no time researching for that. Cheers.

Moving-in
I have done some decent amount of research on Blogspot for a while, and since it doesn't bother me with those stupid and nasty ads, I have officially decided to "move in" here from my previous blog.
From now on, I will slowly sort things out, edit things and hopefully by the end of this summer I will get used to the system here.
